Terraform by far is the biggest project and product with Hashicorp. What is it and how does it fit in Platform Engineering Tools

First, what is a platform? I had a great conversation with Joep Piscaer discussing the topic at VMware Explore EU 2022. I recommend checking that out as a primer. Terraform is a platform engineering tool that allows you to template and automate infrastructure deployment across multiple clouds.

Terraform can be the backend of your internal platform for provisioning resources using a single API. Rob Hirschfeld and I deeply discussed the concept during a recent podcast.

Hashicorp makes money from Terraform via their Hashicorp Cloud Platform (HCP), and enterprise licenses. Terraform has a very friendly copyleft opensource license. The Opensource project is by far the most popular way to consume the software.
