If you’ve ever had to work with any large-scale content repository, you know the pain of needing to tag and index it for search. Even more elusive is creating a user experience that satisfies the average person. AWS Kendra aims to provide an ML-based search platform for unstructured data.

Use Cases

Intranet Search Engine

I’m old enough to remember when Google sold an appliance to bring google search to your intranet. Kendra can be a drop-in replacement for your current search engine.

Video and Audio Search

If you combine Amazon Transcribe with Kendra, you can create a search platform for video and audio.

Automation Integration

The previous examples have been front-end search applications. Another use is for integration into some backend functions. You could use Kendra against a growing data lake to perform contextual-based searches to kick off some serverless functions.
