AWS Everyday - IoT Fleetwise

Niche product but an important example of AWS extended its reach into verticals.

As promised, the following several AWS products will focus on the Internet of Things. Thanks to the reader who pointed out they had to google IoT. AWS IoT Core is an enabler for IoT. A Ford Motor Company could track speed accurately by consolidating the readings from the transmission system, GPS, and tires. Ford has the resources to extract, transform, and load (ETL) the data into analytics platforms. That data could then be input into electric vehicle (EV) design. Ford can take IoT Core, add internal development and differentiate from its competitors.

What if you want to level the playing field with a Ford? That’s the theory behind AWS IoT Fleetwise. Fleetwise does much of the heavy lifting from a customizable agent to a set of predefined ETL. Whether Ford or a startup EV company, you have the IoT tooling to collect and analyze vehicle data. Niche but shows where cloud providers can leverage basic constructs to specific industries.
